What We Do

To maintain a secure supply of raw material, hay is grown by irrigation at our Hillston property.

An underground water supply through a bore gives us a drought proof advantage in the market place.

The hay is transported by low loader to the mill at Tongala where quality is checked and inferior bales are put aside for garden mulch production so that only the best is manufactured into chaff.

At the chaff mill the process begins with top quality hay being teased and put through a steaming process to soften and make the hay more palatable, preventing leaf removal and reducing dust formation.

Cumberoona effectively does this with a modern boiler producing all the steam required. A dust extractor system has been designed purely for chaff production and provides a safe working environment.

Special screens are used to removed the unwanted dust and meal giving a quality end product.

All staff are trained and proficiently skilled at all of the various stages of production, ensuring the high degree of quality assurance is maintained with downtime reduced.

Our easily recognised printed bags are packed, palletised and wrapped, transported around Australia via our own transport.
